Little Bald ‘Burned’ Baby With Sores Ravaging Her Body, Needed Prayer

Pixie’s backstory is a bit of a mystery, writes ilovemydogsomuch

She was found all alone, wandering in a neighborhood. She was so tiny and vulnerable. Her skin was in such bad shape that it appeared she was suffering from intentional burns.

Her skin wasn’t actually burned but Pixie had a terrible case of mange. Her mange had gotten so bad that it invaded every spot on her tiny body. She was covered in bad sores from all her scratching. She was also malnourished. You could tell she would be a large breed dog and at only 6 weeks, she weighed only 4 pounds.

One of the shelter workers, Daphne Bragg, was happy to foster Pixie. She had a puppy a lot like her that had made tremendous progress and Daphne was happy to do the same for little Pixie.

At first, Pixie had no idea how to “dog” but with Daphne’s help, and the assistance of Daphne’s other dogs, Pixie began to learn how to play, how to eat and drink water, and how to be one of the pack.

Daphne’s dog Elliot started out a lot like Pixie. He too had terrible skin issues. This is a photo of the dogs side by side! #Twinning

Elliot and Pixie became best friends. They bonded over their trauma, and little by little, Pixie learned how to be a dog in a household.

Pixie’s skin, with medicated baths, really began to heal and her tiny fur sprouted bit by bit. Daphne thinks she’s going to be a natural redhead

PUPdate: The little fighter stayed with Daphne and her dogs for 6 weeks and in that time, she grew confident and very loving. She now has a new family and is a very happy puppy.

This story shows us how important it is to foster. Dogs like Pixie could never thrive without proper foster care. If you have ever considered fostering dogs, please watch the video below!
