Sad And Scared Dog Only Comes Out Of The Kennel Corner Once Belt Is Removed

Photographer Rebecca Rood went to the Whitfield County Animal Shelter and noticed a sad dog sitting in the corner of his kennel, writes ilovemydogsomuch

It seemed as though Stewart was trying to make himself invisible to the world, and it was clear he had suffered in his past.

Rebecca then found out that Stewart had been found in Georgia tied up in the woods with a thick belt around his neck. Workers tried to remove it right away, but the dog would just growl at them. He didn’t trust humans.

Rebecca would get as close to the dog as he’d allow to take some photos. She posted them to Facebook where they would attract the attention of Courtney Bellew, director of Special Needs Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation (S.N.A.R.R.).

It was Courtney who reached out to take Stewart to a vet clinic to undergo tests and a neuter. While he was under, they were finally able to remove the belt. And that’s when Stewart’s true personality started shining through!

He was now a different dog, and it’s as if the belt were a remnant of his past. Removing it had set him free, and the moment he woke up from anesthesia he started wagging that tail! Here he is playing with some toys while at S.N.A.R.R.

Rebecca couldn’t hold back the tears when she saw the videos. She just couldn’t believe Stewart was able to open up in such a way and realize people just wanted to help him.

No one knows exactly what all Stewart had gone through in his life up to this point, but after a long journey he was on his way to a second chance at life in a loving forever home!
