Frail Chihuahua Had To Be Euthanized After Man Dumped Her In Box At Storefront
A San Diego Humane Society Officer responded to a call in San Marcos regarding a tiny puppy who had been found in a memorabilia box outside the entrance of a store, writes ilovemydogsomuch
A customer saw the 6-7-week-old Chihuahua puppy lying in the box near a trash container, and alerted a store employee, who then contacted the humane society for help.
The poor puppy was cold and wet, as well as malnourished and lethargic. It was obvious that this pup was in awful condition and needed emergency medical attention as soon as possible.
The officer rushed the pup to the humane society’s Escondido Campus for treatment, but sadly, her prognosis was not good, and vets determined that humane euthanasia would be the best option to end her suffering.
The San Diego Humane Society’s Humane Law Enforcement immediately opened an investigation on the case.
A car pulled up to the storefront, and a male exited the backseat and went into the store. When he got back to the car, the female driver went inside the store. While she was inside, the male suspect took a box out of the car, put it next to the trash container, and got back into the car. They drove off once the female driver returned to the car.
A $1,000 reward was offered for any information leading to an arrest in this case.
Luckily, the apparent owner of the puppy has come forward and is now cooperating with the officers as they continue the investigation. Since the investigation is still ongoing, further details can not be disclosed at this time.
