Fortunately, the story has a happy ending as the little pooch ended up getting adopted less than 24 hours after the clip of his abandonment went viral.

Joy Dominguez was out running errands when she noticed something on the side of the road. That is when she got out her phone and started recording the tragic video which showed the dog getting left on the side of the road.

The video clip showed the pup, a beautiful husky, being left on the side of the road by its owner. The young man was seen getting out of the car, unleashing his dog, and then getting back into the car. Without a second look back, he drove off in the direction of Horizon City, Texas.

The poor dog chased after his owner’s car, but the man did not slow down or stop for the poor animal. It was truly a heartbreaking watch.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office shared a statement in which the said, “These crimes against our voiceless animal victims are taken seriously and we actively seek to hold suspects accountable for these cruel acts.”

After being rescued, the little husky was taken to the vet. Fortunately, he turned out to be in good health and was taken by an animal rescue group where he was immediately put up for adoption. Word had gotten out about the pup’s ordeal, and within 24 hours he had a brand new forever family.

The dog was adopted by the Clappsaddle family and was given the name Nanook – inspiration drawn from the 1987 movie, The Lost Boys. Nanook is now a happy little guy who is living his best life – just like any dog should be able to.

After seeing the heartbreaking video of Nanook’s abandonment, the internet was flooded with comments from people who were angered and disturbed by his former owner’s harsh discard of the sweet dog.

One comment read, “Teared up seeing him run after them, wondering why they weren’t taking him with them.”

Someone else wrote, “This happens more often than you could imagine. I grew up on a farm outside a major city and the number of animals that were dumped at the end of our driveway would make you very angry.”

But one bright side that everyone could agree on, was that Nanook certainly got lucky with a loving family who will never hurt him again.

According to KTSM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office identified the two people who abandoned the dog as 68-year-old Luis Antonio Campos and 17-year-old Moises Soto. They’re facing criminal charges for cruelty to non-livestock animals and abandonment.
