Mama Dog Was Starved, Beaten & Shot In The Leg Just Days After Giving Birth

A mama dog is now recovering after she was allegedly starved, beaten and shot in the leg just days after giving birth to her litter of seven puppies, writes ilovemydogsomuch

Thankfully, the good Samaritans who found her and her pups in Grayson County, Kentucky, brought them to the Blue Pearly Veterinary Hospital in Louisville for immediate medical care.

X-rays revealed that the mama dog, now named Ocean Blue, had a shattered radius and ulna. She was in severe pain and was given pain medication.

Tara Bassett and other animal welfare advocates came together and were able to raise nearly $6,500 to pay for Ocean Blue’s surgery, which required plates, screws and a bone graft to repair her leg.

The operation was a success and Ocean Blue and her seven puppies, who are around one month old, are now living in foster homes.

Leitchfield Animal Control is currently investigating this incident and is seeking any information on who could have done this to Ocean Blue.
