Dog Is Chained To A Lonely Tree For 5 Years And Parasites Begin Eating His Face

Marco was just a little puppy when his owner, a retired hunter, began despising him. He considered Marco “useless” and dragged him to the backyard to chain him to a lonely tree, writes ilovemydogsomuch

For 5 years, the man threw stale bread and leftovers to the dog. Poor Marco craved human touch and love, but none of the residents of the remote village knew about his pitiful state.

When rescuers arrived at the scene, they were instantly overpowered by Marco’s intense eyes begging for love. Sadly, the disease was spreading across the dog’s face at an alarming rate. The treatment for advanced leishmaniasis is soul-sucking, but the rescuers promised Marco they would help him get better. They took him away from his owner and rushed him to the vet.

It’s difficult to watch Marco’s exhausting treatment in this video, but seeing him heal little by little gave the rescuers hope. It is frustrating to think how his misery could have easily been avoided if his owner provided him with just some basic care. We are proud of Marco for enduring this terrifying treatment for 5 long months!

The best part of this video is the heartwarming end where the healed Marco meets with his adoptive family for the first time! He has a beautiful home and a vast flowery field at his disposal, and he is going to spend the rest of his life getting pampered by his doting mom and dad. Way to go, Marco!
