Special Pup Found Covered In Maggots Gets A Life Upgrade Thanks To A Little Boy
When Gracie the pup was originally found by Good Samaritans, she was covered in maggots and looked quite strange to her rescuers, writes ilovemydogsomuch
They quickly realized it was because she was born without her two front legs.
She was dropped off at a rescue where she struggled to get by — but did it with a smile on her face.
Gracie could quickly hop wherever she wanted to go; she didn’t mind that she looked different than the other dogs at the rescue. Soon, her sparkling personality won over a visitor at the animal shelter and she found a forever home.
Once Gracie was adopted, her mom, Tammy, wanted to get her a temporary wheelchair while she continues to grow.
Although she could move on her own, her mom didn’t want her nubs to get too sore from all of the high impact hopping.
Because the special needs pup was so young and growing quickly, Tammy didn’t want to invest in a permanent wheelchair just yet. So, she spoke with a trainer at the animal shelter where she found Gracie and came up with an ingenious solution.
The trainer’s 12-year-old son, Dylan, was a volunteer at the shelter and was a whiz with LEGO bricks. So, with no instructions, he built Gracie a custom wheelchair to use!
Although Gracie was confused by the wheelchair at first, it only took her a few minutes to figure out what to do.
By tempting her with treats and hot dogs, Gracie’s mom was able to convince her to run along with the wheelchair. Once again, she could play with her furry siblings at her new home!
