After A Long Wait, The ‘ugly’ Pit Bull That No One Wanted Finds A Home
The most severe issue is that individuals choose their future pets based on their appearance, preferring to adopt the cutest puppy while overlooking the less attractive dogs, writes pitbullworld
But, no matter how they appear, every dog needs love and care, just like this adorable pup who waited years for his permanent home and eventually found it.
Let us introduce you to Wally, a loving Pit Bull who does not resemble your typical canine.
The poor animal has lived a hard life, and all he wishes now is to have a happy family.
The sweet pooch firstly was brought to the Town of Islip Animal Shelter on Long Island, New York, he was a 10 year old stray.
He had some health troubles, he was blinded in one eye and also had skin infection reports The Dodo.
All this gave the poor dog an not so pretty appearance which scared the shelter workers that it will turn down possible adopters.
But Wally turned out to have an amazing personality and was the favourite pet amongst the shelter workers.
“He loves to slobber on you and will do anything for some food,” veterinary tech Danielle Gorle told The Dodo. “He also likes to just hang out and not do anything.”
“Wally is an amazing walrus/hippo/rhino dog that really just needs a home that accepts him and to spend his golden years in!” Jen, a shelter volunteer, wrote on Facebook.
“He is a little mush and a volunteer favorite.”
Unfortunately not many visitors could see the inner beauty, and the poor dog had to wait a year to find a home, since he needs to be the only pet and doesn’t work well with other animals.
According to shelter reports the rejections started to affect the poor animals wellbeing.
“He seems to be declining,” Gorle said. “He was happier when he first came in. He likes when he gets to go out but he seems depressed in his kennel.”
But our Wally got his well deserved happy ending.
One month after he went viral and we first reported on the dog, the shelter announced that Wally had finally found his forever home!
“He is relaxing comfortably and looks great!” the shelter wrote.
We are so happy for our boy.
