A Basenji dog named Ginger Snap was diagnosed with Fanconi Syndrome early on in her life. This genetic disorder affects the kidneys, causes frequent urination, and is known to be fatal. Despite this terrifying sickness, Ginger’s parents found her to be a kind, loving and gentle creature who always wanted to see them smile writes ilovemydogsomuch.tv
In this video, we see the 2-year-old Ginger having a playful time with Dad. The sweet pooch has an eager-to-please personality, so it’s easy for Dad to teach her new tricks. Here, he nonchalantly tries to make her say “I Love You”. He asks her “Ginger, do you love me?” – and the dog spontaneously mouths an actual “I Love You”!
Dad is shocked, so he tries to make her say the 3 magical words again. By now, Ginger knows that an “I Love You” makes Dad very happy. So the smart girl keeps repeating the 3 words until Dad thanks her with a tasty treat! Looks like Ginger would do anything to bring joy to her folks!
Sadly, Ginger’s parents have updated that their precious girl succumbed to her disease when she was 6 years old. They used to take her to the vet every month for her blood work, but they eventually realized they had to let her cross the rainbow bridge.
This video has become a cherished memory for the family as it reminds them of Ginger’s unconditional love and indomitable spirit. They hope their special girl is living a pain-free life in doggie heaven. We’ll always love you, Ginger!
