Owners Wouldn’t Give Up Their Chained Dog, So Woman Visits The Dog For 9-Years

Back in 2007, PETA was striving hard to improve the lives of “backyard dogs” who were chained 24/7 and didn’t have laws to protect their welfare. A woman named Jessica Cochran (or Jes) was a volunteer for PETA’s “Community Animal Project” focused toward such abused, chained dogs. It was during this time that Jes met Edith, a pooch who was kept chained to a barrel in a filthy patch of dirt, writes ilovemydogsomuch

As there was no way to rescue her then, Jes began visiting Edith at regular intervals and forged a special bond with her. She would often drop by and gift the dog toys, treats and other goodies. She even built her a doghouse to shelter her from the whims of the weather.

Over the next 9 years, Jes became Edith’s only real social connection and source of affection. However, things went awry when the owners moved the dog all of a sudden. Jes had no clue about the whereabouts of Edith, and the anxious woman had no option but to pray for the well-being of her furry bestie.

But the other PETA workers never gave up on Jes and Edith’s friendship. They kept searching for Edith for 2 haunting years, and eventually managed to track the senior dog down! Jes and Edith were over the moon as they reunited with each other again, and it was just like old times for the inseparable pair!

This time, PETA was able to convince Edith’s owners to surrender her. Jes adopted her right away and finally introduced her to all the wonderful things that a good girl like her always deserved. After being bound in chains for a decade, Edith is certainly enjoying her glorious second chance in life with her favorite human!
