Virginia Beach SPCA Seeks Help After Rescuing 45 Dogs From Hoarding Situation

Virginia Beach Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (VBSPCA) posted a plea for help after taking in 45 dogs surrendered from a hoarding situation on the Eastern Shore, writes blog.theanimalrescuesite.greatergood

According to the rescue, over 100 dogs were living inside the home in deplorable conditions.

“They are scared, dirty, and covered in fleas. These dogs have never been outside of that house before now,” posted VBSPCA.

The dogs are currently being examined by a vet and most will remain in the care of the SPCA until they are ready to be adopted.

Other rescue organizations in the area have come forward to take in some of the dogs as well.

There is no known date as to when the dogs will be put up for adoption as they are still be evaluated. Many people have offered to welcome one into their home. The shelter asks that people check their website for available pets.

The VBSPCA is in need of donations, new or gently used sheets and towels, and other dog items to care for the dozens of new dogs.

“They are currently getting settled at our shelter where they can be bathed and seen by our veterinarians. Please donate to their care and share this post. Every dollar makes a difference,” wrote the rescue.

The VBSPCA provides shelter and care to approximately 3000 homeless companion animals each year, but they couldn’t do it without the support of the community, volunteers, and fosters.
