Meet The Green-Headed Tanager – The Vibrant Colored Songbird
The gorgeous green-headed tanager is a songbird found in the Atlantic forest habitat in South America.
The tiny colorful bird sports an attractive plumage which helps with its camouflage in a forest canopy.
Stretching up to 13.5 cm (5.3 in) and weighing around 18g (0.6 oz).
This colorful bird is a mix of many colors including, turquoise, green, blue, yellow, black, orange, and the eagle-eyed among us may be able to spot more.
They are very active and social birds who can be found in flocks of 10-20 birds, and even join in mixed flocks.
They prefer to set up camp in more humid forests at high elevations and can be found flitting rapidly between branches while deciding on the perfect foraging spot.
Their diet consists mainly of fruit, seeds, nectar and insects.
The females, although still pretty, are much less vibrant than the males.
