Meet The Eurasian Blue Tit – The Chubby Acrobat With The Stunning Plumage

With its bright blue and yellow plumage, the Eurasian blue tit is very easy to spot.

These garden acrobats are ordinarily resident birds and do not migrate to different habitats for breeding purposes.

They like to stay in their native subarctic Europe home in mixed woodlands, especially oak.

They like to nest in tree holes but can adapt where necessary.

The Eurasian blue tit’s main rival is the more common and larger great tit, the two often fight over food and spots for nesting.

The blue tit’s diet consists mainly of insects and spiders, although outside of the breeding season, they snack on seeds and other plant-based foods.

One of the most famous characteristics of the blue tit is its acrobatic skills, it can hang upside down while clinging to the outermost branches while looking for food.

With little fear of humans, people often find them hanging upside down in their own gardens looking for food.

Back in the milk delivery days of the UK, these crafty critters were known for pecking through the foil bottle caps to drink the top of the milk.

They build their nests using wool, moss, hair and feathers and will often reuse them, returning to them year after year.
